This is a small scale Grundtvig Partnership project that brings together groups of people from five countries, who are interested in art and want to share their knowledge with others.  The activities in each country vary and include holding craft workshops, photography, building websites and mobile applications, producing tourist brochures, learning to be guides and telling stories through words and images.  What they all have in common is that individuals learn new skills, develop language competences, use new technologies and meet people with similar interests from other countries.

During the lifespan of the project, over 60 staff and students are travelling to other countries to learn about their artistic and cultural heritage and to work alongside each other.

The Pontydysgu team are running this project in their home town in Wales.  Adult learners are creating a virtual tour of Pontypridd and the surrounding area that will be available on the town website and as a mobile application.

The Old Bridge Camera Society, Pontypridd and Cilfynydd Art Clubs and the Pontypridd Musuem are collaborating to digitise artists’ pictures of the local area.  The images will be pinned to Google Earth together with text, video and audio interviews with the artists and with local historians so that visitors can take an on-line stroll through the town and look at artists’ impressions of the landscape, the people and the historic buildings.

We are also working with municipal authority, Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC, to add the tour to the Pontypridd town mobile app. so that visitors can take a real walk around but see landmarks and places of interest through the eyes of local artists.

Participants in the project (upwards of 50 people) are learning to use technology, develop communication skills through interviewing and creating text, taking photographs and handling digital images, video and audio.
